Department "Neurotransmission & Neuroendocrine Secretion"
Overview of Department
Research Interests
Research topics developed in the department aim at deciphering the molecular mechanisms underlying neurotransmission and hormone secretion in both normal and pathological situations.
The physiological specificities of a neuron or a neuroendocrine cell are studied at various levels of resolution using molecular and cell biology techniques, as well as electrophysiology, cell imaging and ultrastructural analysis.
Exocytosis, endocytosis, phagocytosis, neurotransmission, secretion, synaptic plasticity and synaptogenesis are studied on various cell preparations, organotypic cultures or brain tissue slices prepared from wild type or transgenic animal models.
Focus is also given on the functional relationship between neurons, microglial and glial cells in order to gain a global view of the brain physiology.
